[warranty] - Full restore to factory state
*** Please contribute and I will make this a tutorial thread ***
*** The purpose is to give instructions on a complete virgin restore for all different firmware and unlocking methods***
I have an OTB 1.0.2 BL3.9, since then I've upgraded to 1.1.4, with the latest baseband and kept the original BL.
So now my iphone has problems...specifically, the screen will not respond.
In order to restore the phone to its factory state, I must:
- use ziphone to erase the baseband
- use itunes restore in DFU mode to upload an original baseband and restore firmware to 1.1.4
Is that it?!?!?
Through search I've also discovered that even though Apple may replace your phone, they can check on the spot to see if its been activated and if not, will make you activate before giving you the replacement phone.
Can anyone offer any tips for a guy from Canada that needs warranty service. Phone is over 30 days old, less than a year.
Thanks

no need for ziphone, or anything like that since you have your orginal bl. Itunes will take care of your baseband, just dfu restore in itunes and you will come out clean

I wish I could check my IMEI, unfortunately without touchscreen controls, I can't check. I was under the impression that the baseband HAD to be erased, since any unlock modifies the baseband and itunes will not upload a new baseband if the versions are the same.

Updated the thread,
Does the ziphone, iliberty or any previous hack/unlock modify the bootloader?
I know for 4.6, ziphone would downgrade the bl to 3.9 (no FB). Anything else?

onlyziphone, iplus/iliberty or pawnage touch the bootloader. Ziphone dosnet give you fakeblank only iplus/iliberty does and pawned allows a switch between 3.9 and 4.6 wether its fakeblank or not. If you want you could try pawnge and modify it so that it has increased sensitivty in the screen.....

Regardless of what you do to virginize your phone, if you don't have an official iPhone plan with the correct provider you won't get any help from anyone.

Are you sure they touch the bootloader...I thought they only modify the baseband and that is what keeps with a restore in itunes to the same firmware.
I've got a workaround for the official iPhone plan so I'm not worried about that. Just worried about how to get the phone back to its original state.
