    lsmaster,
As an employee of O2, the iPhone contractor here in the UK I find your claim difficult to accept.

Never have O2 or Apple UK employee's been able to tell when an iPhone has been unlocked when it has correctly been revirginised, a very simple procedure.

I myself have been able to receive full technical support, and subsequent entire refund of an iPhone by simply restoring the firmware - they evidently failed to check the baseband.

As for a 'simple check', employees have better things to worry about than checking into every part of the iPhone anatomy. As long as it is restored, and in a locked manner then they can't say anything, noting this is a hardware fault - of course.

That is fine, you are an O2 empoloye. You do not have the same tool as a Apple Store Genii has. We do, I am tired of fighting with you guys.

Plain and simple, if you get it replaced, good for you. With a cracked screen, Apple will probably requote you any ways.

    Here are the facts:
    - Apple has records of which iPhones have been activated through AT&T. They can bring up this information based on your serial number or phone number AT THE STORE or OVER THE PHONE

    Lsmaster,

While you try to sound omnipotent and scary, the enforcer of all that's apple legal, I bet your iphone is jailbroken and/or unlocked.

Lets face it, the iphone is a computer. If you are dumb enough not to jailbreak and/or unlock it so you can take full advantage of its capabilities, then you are seriously missing out. It's like having a PC that can not connect to the internet; useful for text editing but that's about it.

How do I know your iphone is jailbroken, you ask? Well, you wouldn't be posting here, would you?

It is too bad. Apple knows if you unlocked it. We can tell.
Even for an iPhone that had a trip in a Micro-Wave oven ?

Just coz he works for apple doesnt mean hes not going to hack his iphone, nor does it mean he shouldnt hack it. And also we already know that you dont have to activate to claim your warranty, so you say you check the att account details, but nothing says you have to have the att contract to claim your warranty if its a hardware fault like a cracked screen which you can see without activating.

    Guys, guys

    Calm down.

Now, let us all bow down to the infinite wisdom of the boy that sits in an Apple store....

    and

    who uses T-Mobile.
