Default Voltage differences in USA and UK

Hi, can i just purchase an iPod charger in the UK and use it to charge the iPhone?

Will it short circuit the phone due to the voltage differences?

    Thank you

You'll be fine, the charger converts AC power (whatever voltage it may be) to DC which is what the iPhone (and most all portable devices) uses for charging.

Apple is fitting encryption chips into all of its accesories these days. If it is an older iPod charger then it might not work; along with alot of other 3rd party accesories.

if you want to build an iPod / iPhone accesory then you are expected to cough-up a bunch of cash for the encryptions chips.

I bought a new Logic 3 in-car charger from Maplin in the UK and it worked. I tried my iPhone in a bunch of stereo speakers made for iPod at Currys and I got the "This is not compatable" message.

Us is 110Volts Europ is 220V, but anyway Your iPhone charger is ready for all voltages, You need to worry about the walloutlet adapter which is so much dirrenet form US or even the rest of Europe. I am sure You can buy such adaptor at the airport or at WallMartl or eBay, no more than 10USD.
