Default Voicemail Notifications No Longer Working in v1.1.1?

One significant issue that I just noticed after upgrading to v1.1.1 is that my voicemail notifications no longer seem to be working at all.

Previously, with v1.0.2, I would get the red dot whenever a new voicemail message was left in my voicemail box. This is on Rogers in Canada, which uses a non-SMS-based voicemail notification scheme, and therefore should work, and has worked just fine previously.

I've even reverted back to v1.0.2 and then went back up to v1.1.1 to compare. In v1.0.2, voicemail notifications work fine. In v1.1.1, I get nothing.

This also makes it clear that this is not a baseband firmware issue, since the downgrade to v1.0.2 leaves the v1.1.1 baseband firmware in place (04.13.01_G), yet voicemail notifications work fine in v1.0.2 regardless of which baseband firmware is being used.

In either version, the voicemail notification comes on by default after a restart, or when returning from Airplane Mode, and even in v1.1.1 it clears correctly if I leave myself a voicemail message and later delete it (or delete a message that's already in my voicemail box), but in v1.1.1 I can't seem to get it to reappear for new voicemail messages -- it merely comes on when restarting the iPhone (as it always did) regardless of whether there are new messages or not, and then stays on until I clear my voicemail box.

Anybody else having similar problems on Rogers or other carriers? Any thoughts?

(I realize that there are those who are unfortunate enough to be on carriers that have never provided iPhone-compatible voicemail notifications, but I'm more concerned to hear from those who had their voicemail notifications working in v1.0.2 but now are not receiving any notifications in v1.1.1 and therefore come up with some ideas on what has changed in the new version in this regard).

Same problem here, I'm on Rogers....actually first in Canada to have an iPhone work on the Rogers network with a Rogers sim card using the Turbo Sim.

I posted this same problem when the 1.1.1 firmware came out as I upgraded at that time using my Turbo Sim. I have a legit activated iPhone so I never needed to jailbreak my iPhone.

I think Apple is just ignoring the GSM networks sms message that they send from the tower to your phone that lets you know you have a voice mail message, because with the real ATT network they get visual voicemail and it comes in/notified via data not the usual sms voicemail notificiation....I think you may have just confirmed that with your little test...downgrade but kept the same baseband, so it's software related in the latest iPhone's 1.1.1.

This could be good since it's easier to modify the softare than to modify the baseband to fix this problem.

I have the same problem. I think it may be a real show-stopper for me if we can't find a fix. I might have to downgrade to 1.0.2!

You receive notification that you have voicemail? The red dot shows up on the voicemail icon?

same problem here on Orange UK. Was working fine with 1.0.2 but just noticed the lack of a red dot when I have a voicemail today!!! Hopefully this can be fixed

    **update**

I've received a red dot after calling my phone and leaving a test message. The red dot appeared a good 1-2hours after I left the voicemail.

The red dot is still there after deleting the message.

I'm on Fido, and I do not receive any voicemail notification either by the red dot or txt message.

I don't think the notification will work, however you have upgraded to 1.1.1. The main reason for this, from what I can work out, is they have not included the ability for the new version to accept Flash SMS. Guess we're stuffed, or we downgrade .
