    Default Visual Voicemail not working

I bought a 1.1.2 OTB yesterday, and downgraded/activated/jailbroke/upgraded/jailbroke. Everything went smoothly.

I'm running it on a AT&T account, family plan. I called and added the "Max Media Unlimited" to my account, which is unlimited data/texting. On the AT&T site it says:

    Existing Customer Plans

If you're an existing AT&T wireless customer and you want to keep your current voice plan, you just need to add a data plan for iPhone. (This may replace your current data plan.) Data plans for iPhone give you Visual Voicemail, SMS Text Messaging bundles, and Unlimited Data, which includes both email and web, all for as little as $20.

You'll add a data plan for iPhone during the activation process.
After I did all that, Visual Voicemail still isn't working. My only assumption is that it's because I never really activated it over iTunes. Has anyone else had this problem? I'm thinking of calling AT&T and troubleshooting it, but I don't want to exactly tell them how/why I didn't activate the phone.

    Thanks.

iphone has a special data plan, max media will get you data to surf but wont give you visual voicemail.

you have to legitimately activate via itunes for that.

you have to add the iphone bundle.
only the iphone bundle has visual voice mail.
and the only way you can get the iphone bundle is activating it with itunes

Ugh, if that's true i'm just going to stick with this plan. I can already imagine them charging a big difference just for that feature.

The quote taken from their site is a bit misleading.

all the iphone plans seem very reasonable to me. and the data pack on the iphone is the same $20 its just that then you are registered as an iphone and apple gets thier money.

I can't see the price for the plans anywhere, how much would unlimted text and data be? Still $40?

And is there anyway to activate the iPhone legitimately after all the things I've done?

iPhone plans or if you plug an un activated iphone into itunes it will show you them aswell.

yes, unlimited data/sms is $40 to add to an existing account or $20 to add unlimited sms to the iphone plan. i wish i had one of those plans, there is nothing even close to that in Canada.

make sure you have a blank sim card.
stick it in and plug it into your computer.
go to itunes and click restore.
and then after it is finshed it will say welcome to your iphone.
hit contuine and if you are alredy a AT&T customer.
seclet the one that applies to you and hit next.
it will ask for your phone # account number and last four digits of ss
hit next and there will be the plans or you can add $20 to any plan for the iphone bundle. next select the text messaging package you want
(the iphone bundle come with 200 but you can add more) and it should be the same as what your paying now if not a little less
