Default To virginize or not to virginize.... that is the question....

I have just inherited of an unlocked iphone. It works perfectly on the T-mobile network. I have access to the internet, email and such.

My problem is the following: since this iphone belonged to someone else, it has the itunes account of that person in memory. I unfortunately do not have that persons password and cannot change the account on my computer order to sync it.

As per apple :"it is not possible to change the account in use on the device itself or to sync multiple accounts to your mobile device. To change the account you are using on your mobile device, go to your computer and sign in to the iTunes Store with the account you want to use on your mobile device, then sync your iPhone or iPod touch with your computer again. This will transfer the new account information to the mobile device. To sign in or out of an account in iTunes choose Store > Sign In (or Sign Out)."

    What do i do?

If I virginize it and re-unlock it will all the info reset itself as if it came out of the box?

Any help will be appreciated. BTW, the phone belonged to a member of my family who passed away.... just thought I would mention it JIC.

Here are some of its stats:
    version is 2.2 (5G77)
    firmware is 2.28.00

If you do have an iTunes account and you are logged in, the iPhone will be connected to your Account, no longer to the other one. No need to restore it.

The only thing you have to keep in mind, syncing it let's say on another computer will replace all the stuff that is on the iPhone with the one from the new computer.

I guess i neglected to say in my original post that when I do plus in the iphone into my macbook and opne itunes (8.0.2) my iphone does not appear.
    It is not recognized.
I thought i might be because the right account was not opened.

If this is not the case what should I do?

oh BTW i did as it was advised on an other post:
    "Try this:

    Turn of your iPhone.

While pressing down the "home" button, connect the USB cord and see if iTunes recognizes that an iPod/iPhone needs to be restored. Make sure you hold down the "home" button the whole time until you see the iTunes prompt.

    Then restore."

So the iphone does get to the point where it has the icon of itunes w/the cable, it even opens itune on y macbook, but the iphone does not appear anywhere!!!!!

    GRRRRR!!! this is so frustrating!!!!

Other little ditty i thought I might mention, when i open quickpwn it doesn't recognize my iphone.

Hmm, it looks like the iphone works as it should do with the exeption not showing up in iTunes. It should - after iTunes bootet - show up in iTunes.

Are you running iTunes 8.0.2 on your Macbook, what Mac OS X version are you using. Just try to figure out why.

Plus: did you try it on another USB-Port? Dont know if your Macbook has more then one USB-Ports.
