so we cant use the youtube app. Is there a solution to watching flash videos on the phone? I read somewhere that Apple made the decision to not include flash software with the phone, so i guess thats why we get the youtube app...

There isnt at this point... YouTube.app does not use flash to play videos either...

oh right ok. im not clued up on what the app uses itself.

oh well, in due course i guess it'll be discovered why it wont run on wifi.

The YouTube app is specially designed to use Apple's H.264 codec. YouTube is currently in the process of converting it's entire catalog to this codec, hence the limited selection of YouTube videos on the iPhone. I believe youtube.com will still use Flash to view videos, but the videos themselves will be encoded differently.

Apple is also in the works with Adobe to create a Flash plugin for the iPhone. I think it's safe to say that it won't be long until it's released. Part of it not being released is the fact that on the iPhone, you dont have a mouse cursor, and most Flash files use this ability. there might be some security issues as well. I see simple flash apps like youtube working great, but flash based games where you'd have to drag and drop things won't work unless Apple gives you this ability on the phone.
