I simply LOVE the fact that he said the movie was shot late night, when the UK clock talk said 11am. (they have 24hrs in europe format not am/pm like usa).
Besides that, some very good point already said here... why would they even consider releasing this blurry bs low quality video that tells absolutelly nothing, if they are trying to make some serious $$$ with their software.
Now the whole thing finally smells fishy to me.
Over here in the UK, the talking clock works in 12 hours, not 24.

pfft, that video shows nothing to dispell or strength doubts. They never show the phone was locked at the beginning. I still want a software lock, but I'm not going to hold my breath over this one.

Personally I don't trust anyone anymore. I've been waiting so long and just hearing news but not the software. Always saying that there will be some sort of software next week, next day, but nothing comes out at last... And this blurry video can tell me what?

What ticks me is, I bet alot of there findings if any came from the Dev Team and others.
the second thing is why can't they give back to the people, like send a copy to the Dev Team and not try to lock it down.

Geo, just tell everyone about the chances to find a software unlock! So that they stop believing this everyday scam!
P.S. If anyone had this software unlock it would be known to more then one of the medias. Not just Engadget. With non-disputable video confirming the process. That's a 100% scam! Both of them. My opinion.

Bunch of kids
I don't understand why so many of you are acting like a bunch of kids. RELAX!!! Facts: iphoneunlocking.com is made up of a bunch of scammers/bullshitters and they DO NOT HAVE any software unlock. Iphonesimfree.com is the real deal and their solution will be available by the weekend. So just relax, ignore completely any news/update from iphoneunlocking.com, do not open up your iPhone unless you know what you are doing. Wait till the weekend. You have waited this long, what's a few more days.

I don't think that the iPhone has been unlocked in the video! Instead i think that the phone was already unlocked - and also had a SIM card plugged in, which was different from the Vodafone SIM he is showing in the video (he simply 'disappears' the Vodafone SIM behind the phone through slight of hand).
This is my opinion (but maybe i'm wrong), because it takes some 10s for the iPhone to find the network (and to book into it) after the insertion of the SIM (at least this is how it's working on my unlocked iPhone). Instead, he inserts the SIM and is immediatly able to place a call!
When i'm watching his unlocking actions - and the way the computer is responding (even if the screen is to blurred to actually read the content), it looks to me like he is jailbreaking the phone (pressing and holding the Menu and ON buttons), followed by something which is taking not enough time for an unlock, as you have to
o move the CommCenter.plist out of /System/Library and reset the phone again before you can access the baseband.
o re-flash the firmware, which takes a considerable amount of time (much longer than shown in the video)
o apply the AT+CLCK="PN",0,"00000000"-command (because he is not entering any unlock code into his SW)
o move the CommCenter.plist back into /System/Library and reset the phone again
o unjail the iPhone
So this procedure needs a minimum of 2-3 minutes - and we should have seen a couple of reboots.
Sorry - but i don't think they have an unlock.
