Using iPhone with Verizon network ?
Now that Verizon, with the blackberry 8830 and global service feature, will provide a SIM carded phone, would that (sim) work with the unlocked iPhone ?
If yes, it could be a smart move from Verizon not to loos/acquire old/new customer.

Unless Verizon is actually putting up GSM towers - no.
The SIM card slot and GSM mode in the 8800 series CDMA devices is provided to allow you to roam in Europe and other GSM-only countries. Verizon is still a CDMA network, so a GSM-based phone would not magically work on Verizon's systems just because one of the phones happens to support both CDMA and GSM modes.
