just because its not a brick dosent mean that its is not bad, using some of ziphone (or almost anything) you could do un reverseable damage and cause unwanted side effects , yea sure you can run around saying that your jailbroken etc but god forbid something goes wrong thats apples fault and you have to retuen it and your turned away just because of some really bad side effect or peice of code

Sadly...unlocking or jailbreaking is not for everyone...just for those willing to take risk.

If the button stopped working then that sounds like a genuine defect and not your fault. No-one is ever going to accuse you of causing the button to fail by messing with the software on the phone or jailbreaking it. I recommend you take it to the store and show them the fault and ask them to replace it there and then. It doesn't need to be analyzed: the Genius or a manager should be willing to replace or refund the phone.

Please do NOT microwave the phone or similar. What a waste. Yours can be fixed, or it can be replaced and the faulty phone refurbed for someone else. Causing damage and then claiming the battery malfunctioned or something is DISHONEST and anyone suggesting that should be ashamed.

Dishonesty is not my policy. I have no intention of eating my iPhone, so it's not going in the microwave.

Dishonesty is not your policy, yet you want to find a way to cover your tracks to what, honestly show Apple you didn't void your warranty?

The honest thing to do would be to return the phone as-is, not try to scam Apple into thinking you never hacked their software.

Personally I'm not that kinda guy... into the microwave it would go:p .

You hacked your phone and violated the terms of the warranty.

    Its a risk you take.

I didn't mean to interject, I just found the honesty comment laughable

For the record, when I was speaking to an Apple tech over the phone, I told him I did jailbreak my phone and my wake button was damaged. He said if the Apple techs who take in my phone do not see evidence of it being jailbroken, then it will be fine.

If he says that, then I'm okay with it.

Almost surprising the guy on the phone didn't suggest microwaving it, heh
