Had 1st gen phone up and running for about a week now. Well today I get home and try to sync some apps with itunes and when I plug in my iphone into my laptops usb port a message at the bottom right says "USB Device not recognized" followed by "One of the USB devices attached to this computer has malfunctioned, and windows does not recognize it." So I do a little searching and find that if I turn off the PC and unplug the power wait a minute and plug/turn everything back on it'll work. So I did this and it worked like a charm. I disconnect the proper way with itunes and everything is fine and dandy. Well I need to sync some more stuff so I plug it back in with the same error popping up. I repeat the power off method and when I try it the 2nd, 3rd, 4th time nothing works. So I think maybe I should try my other PC. So I install itunes on it and try it again and I get the same error. So I guess it's the phone. I'm assuming its not the cable because my ipod works just fine when plugged in.

Is there a fix out there? My phone is a 1st gen that is unlocked, jail broken 2.2.1 with cydia, installer, applous...

The phone will charge and make the connected noise when plugged in it just won't be recognized on my PC's.

I got it to work a second time after I did a reboot but no luck since trying to repeat the process.
