Usage Question: Compilations, iPhone versus iPod ?
Hi !
I got a Problem:
I got some 100 CD's stored on my iPhone, as it was on my iPod before...
I also created a Playlist called "car" where i store several hundred Songs from the current Charts that i change every once in a while as you are quickly fed up with most "Top 10" Hits...
All those single songs i marked with "belongs to a Compilation" because on my previous iPod this was neccessary to hide all those "Artists" to be shown amongst my stored CD's.
But this is not working on the iPhone, if i browse the "Artists" now, it shows all those crappy Artists from my "hire and fire" playlist.
But i only want my permanent CD's to be shown there.
So this is a major problem for me, instead of 50 Artists where i could easy find one of beloved CD's i now got 300 Artists most only having 1 or two songs.
ARGGGGG !
Any help or hint how to reach this goal on the iPhone or am i f*cked with the iPhone ?

I download songs from pandora.com and just mark the album name as "pandora" for all the songs. That way I have all the songs listed under the same album.

Yes, you can do it this way...
I also did it this way:
Set the Genre for all your "permanent" Artists to "Rock", set all Genres for the chart-breaker songs to "Mix" and then use the "Genre" option to browse only your real music & Interprets & Albums...
But this all sux, i hate to overwrite a well written mp3 tag to overcome a weakness in the iPhone that the iPod had a Compensation for....
I browsed some of the "suspicious" plist files for a hidden Option "HideCompilations" or the like but didn't find anything....
Bah !
I sold my iPod too soon !
