Default US Tmobile hacked user questions about going to Canada for trip

I'm a US user who will be going to Canada for a few days. DO I need to add a program to disable EDGE? I've gone with other phones when I didn't have a data plan and just roamed with Rodgers or Fido. But with the horror stories I've read about EDGE trying to connect constantly and high out of country data rates, i'm worried. Anyone who knows or has experience with international traveling, please help me out and guide me to any needed software and/or settings. Thanks.

i would turn edge off if i were you.. or to be sure just erase the apn address from the settings.. reason being is that i live in Canada and data prices are absolutely redicilous...so if rogers charges their subscribers an arm and a leg to for data... i wonder how much they are gonna charge you to roam....just my 2 cents..

dont freak out, use the search feature. There is an app called services in installer. Download it, turn off edge.

Yes, if you use edge in another country you will get charged out the ass.

i have seen one program like that in installer and am hopeing someone with experience can comment on if its good, and stable. I don't want to fark up my nice phone since its running perfectly. Plus try searching for EDGE and see how many threads you get. Yeah, its a whole lot.

You obviously are an idiot and don't know how to read. I appreciate you being a total douche by the way.

    1) BOTH suggestions are from people who have never tried it. It would be nice to know from someone internationally how to do this for sure. With all the hacked phones in Canada and worldwide, there has to be a proven way, however nobody with EXPERIENCE has posted. I am greatful for the input, but would love to hear from someone who KNOWS what to do so I'm not charged $300 for being ni Canada for 3 days.

    2) I can't find a thing on the results of how stable the app on installer is. I don't want it ruining my new phone. I'd rather swap my SIM card and bring my Treo than screw up my iPhone due to a faulty app. But I'd love to use it if its a good and proven program.

    3) The other guy "thinks" that removing your settings in edge will make it so you don't get charged. If your phone's on, from what I hear, international users of the hacked iphone are being charged even by deleting settings, since if you are roaming your phone is transmitting. Data roaming is not cheap. Its a big flaw in the iphone.

    4) Airplane mode turns the phone off too jackass. I'd like to use my phone even though I'm roaming and not get charged the insane amounts Canada charges for roaming data plans.

Next time you make sure a bold statement and call someone stupid, MAYBE know what you're talking about first.
