[US iPhone] How to activate with AT&T Gophone without a SS number ?

Hi, I have a problem with my iphone and would like to go to the apple store for warranty, buy I need to activate if first with ATT,

Mi first iphone was activated with a gophone account using and invalid SS in order to fail the credit check, but it appears ATT fix that and now it check first the SS you enter is valid.

I already call ATT and they told me there is nothing they can do, any ideas?

I just activated mine using a diff social like 424446524 just make up numbers

what version do you have OTB? I can tell you which steps i took from a tutorial. I got an AT&T Pay as you Go sim to work with my iphone.

well anyway I am happy to inform I fix my problem, I read another threat that suggest to crack open de phone and put some insulation to solve the no signal problem, and its working

Interesting question: Does it ask only for a SSN at activation now, or does it ask for either that or a preapproval code obtained from an AT&T store? It used to do both (at least at the time of the iPhone's release).

If it asks for either one, why couldn't one somehow get a sales rep at an AT&T store to make such a 'fallible preappoval code' in order to get prepaid?

I'm about to activate as a gophone so I can take in my bought in Dec phone where the external speaker wont work anymore. Can someone tell me what the process is? Do I just buy a pay-as-you-go sim and activate through itunes? What's the deal with the SSN?
