Upgrade to 1.1.1 with iNdependence
Hello!
My iPhone arrived yesterday and, with a lot of luck, it's 1.0.2 out of the box.
I've unlocked it with IPSF yesterday (I didn't want to use AnySIM because it's only the new version that doesn't brick the BB, and it's been relased today).
Now I'd really like to upgrade to 1.1.1, so I can use the international keyboard and some other things.
I saw that iNdependence 1.2.3 (which I used to activate my 1.0.2 iPhone) has a new option to prepare the phone for the upgrade... Since the manual guide to upgrade is very long, I'd like to use iNdependence... But I haven't found any guide about it yet... Can someone please tell me how to use it? I think I should prepare the phone with the tool,
upgrade with iTunes and then activate again (since I used IPSF to unlock I don't think there are more steps for unlocking). And then? I heard that there are some things to be removed (a symlink?).
Thank you for your help.
P.S.: has the SMS receiving issue been fixed in 1.1.1? I don't care about SMSs sent from non-numers, but I'd really like to receive SMSs from my operator (Vodafone Italy)...

I used the above tutorial and it is excellently written.
I had no problems doing exactly what you propose.
1.1.1. is a nice update but I should warn you that you may not receive voicemail notifications after you upgrade. By that I mean the little red dot that appears when someone leaves you a voicemail - it just doesn't show up in 1.1.1.
