Unlocked phone on T-Mobile being reported as on ATT?
My unlocked phone is working perfectly with my T-Mobile SIM except for now its displaying AT&T as the carrier. Is this a common thing? I really want it to go back to T-Mobile, cause its fun to show people who switched over to AT&T just for the iphone :p

With the guide stickied at the top of this forum

Sometimes T-Mobile shares AT&T's frequency. They have some sort of agreement with that. Also check which carrier you have set in SETTINGS>CARRIER (usually it should be set to Automatic).

It's set to automatic, but only AT&T is showing up.

Maybe there's no T-mobile service where you are?

There's definitely tmobile here, and I've already used it with this iphone in the exact spot I am now.

Re: Shared frequencies? This is absolutely incorrect.
The only reason that you would see another operator's name appear is if your network was unavailable and you were roaming or if your network operator provides a shared cover via roaming that they offset administratively.
In country, your phone will never sync to another operator's network, rather you will receive a "no service" message, unless there is a special bilateral roaming agreement that has been put in place to provide joint coverage. Very few such agreements have been signed in the world since they're an administrative nightmare and it is much more cost effective for the operator to deploy his own infrastructure to fill and holes in coverage. Out of country, you will always sync to a partner's network.
