I've tried the lockdown permission fix, but it didn't make any difference... If you want to try it yourself you need to enable SSH in your phone (Install BSD Subsystem and Open SSH via installer.app, in that order) and access your phone via SFTP (I used transmit, just input the phone's IP address / user: root / pass: dottie / port: 22) go to /usr/libexec and set the permissions for the lockdown file. Hope that clarifies it... but it didn't work for me.

I've unlocked 4 iPhones already and this is the only one giving me problems, the other 3 work just fine.

    this officially SUCKS.

(If anyone has any other ideas, PLEASE help )

Apparently the this iPhones freeze after being in sleep (or locked) mode for a while (like the phone is unable to restart after some kind of low power consumption mode) and so far the only workaround is to never lock it, which is not a real solution because the battery doesn't even last a day in stand-by with that huge screen always on (and the touchpad is still active so it's pretty annoying.) Maybe there's a way to disable this low consumption mode, so the battery doesn't drain as fast and the phone becomes usable again. Sadly, I wouldn't know how to even begin digging this up so if anyone out there has any ideas about it, PLEASE help us...

    This is getting really frustrating

I'm not sure about this problem, but I can say that I found my iPhone to be much more reliable after I deleted summerboard.

It's a nice program, but it really slowed everything down.

fenoco, I'm really sorry to say but I also think you have a hardware problem.

My first journey into the iPhone world resulted in the same exact problem. I bought an 8g iPhone about 2 weeks ago. I had some problems installing apptapp and i had to restart the procedure several times. After i finally got it done, and unlocked after it I discovered that I had the same problem. iPhone worked fine, did everthing it suppose to do, working with t-mobile, 3rd party apps, wifi etc... But every time it went to "stand by" or sleep it would crash after wake up. If I woke it up inmediatly after sleeping it would still work, but as soon as it went "cold" it crashed.

I think the safest way to know if you have the same problem is leaving it disconnected by night, and realizing in the morning you have no baterry after a hard restart.

So after much debating with my law student GF, I decided to restore everything to default, leave it go "cold" in my pocket while we went to the applestore to adventure into the warranty ordeal. This was before they put the signs up and geniuses were less prepare.

I took it out, it crashed. She restarted it and my description of the problem was told in 5 mins. She (apple genius girl) kept nodding and trying to interrupt me. After being convinced it wasnt a regular issue. As i had got the phone not a week before she seemed ok with swapping my unit. Then the big question came up, to which I answered I wasnt an AT&T costumer, and that I only used the iPhone as an iPod Touch. I went around as much as i could for my way of activating by my own means. At which point my GF jumped and admitted we had hacked it. I sighed and knew what was coming. She talked with the manager, and not after she did she came with the best thing they could (according to my law school GF). They said the warranty was dormant, that the only way to activate the warranty is when you create/activate you iphone with AT&T until then your warranty is non-existent.

So nothing to it, I said I wanted to return my iPhone. Got the 10% Fee, and with the receipt still in hand went to wait line to buy another iPhone.

New iPhone no problems. Though I have to admit I installed apptapp manually (just to be on the safe side), but I cant say im a 100% sure that was the cause.

Best of luck, and I hope you can still return it.

I have noticed the hanging on an activated (PACAY) but still locked phone as well. I think it has something to do with the WiFi hanging not being able to log onto a network. Completely turn off your WiFi and try again.
