    Default Unlocked iPhone 1.1.3/Broken screen

So, my uncle just broke the screen of his iPhone. It is webbed, sort of like when a bullet hits a car window. The iPhone is 1.1.1 and it is unlocked with t-mobile. If he sends it in for repair, will the company discover and/or care that he has it unlocked?

Please help, and if anyone has had this problem, I would greatly appreciate your advice.

I dropped my iphone this morning on the hardwood floor, and cracked the screen. It made it so that the bottom half of the touchscreen would not work (could display, but no touch functionality)

I restored the phone, and took it in to the apple store on lunch. Told them that I have been using the #307#* method to do things until my t-mobile contract expires. They were fine with that. They said that the touch function should still work with cracks, and that it was a fluke that it broke.

Long story short, I left with a brand new iphone. Only downside, I can't do anything with it until things are worked out for 1.1.3 oob unlock/activate

Well, thanks! But his screen will not even function. He really just wants them to repair the phone (replace screen and touch system) without having to restore to 1.1.3. Is there any way that they'll do that? Or do you think they will have to restore it.

I'm not sure how/what apple store you went to, but you were definitely lucky. I think most simply refuse to exchange the broken screen phones even if the touch doesn't work.
If you broke the screen, well you dropped it and that's not covered under warranty.

Great work though on getting a new iphone out of it
