Unlock, then No Service?!?! This is probably why.
I saw this in a thread, and after walking someone part way thru a unlock i realized alot of people might have gotten this error because the think they are done with the unlock, but just thru the PAYCAY step, and think the jailbreak is the unlock. You still have to iBrickr the .pxl, and unlock.
Full credit to Brasuco in the thread for pointing this out...

I've tried to manually unlock the sim and also have tried various auto methods. I always get the No Service message. I've tried staring from scratch by doing the restore; jailbreak; etc .. but always get the No Service. Any ideas?

i think a small amount of these phones are defective and develop the no service issue.. i have unlocked about 25 so far and 2 are no service.
nothing fixes it.

After the unlock, are you re-activating the phone?
I haven't tried the new unlock tools as my phone is already unlocked via the previously released GUI unlock....but after unlocking I had to re-activate my phone in order to get service (you can use iBrickr or whatever for this).

Fair enough, just pointing out that previous unlock methods required the user to re-activate their phone after the unlock was complete (or else you got no service etc).
