I have an older AT&T 3G that I replace about a year or so ago due to an apparent battery failure(my current iphone cannot be unlocked without major issues due to the version and broadband). The older iphone works fine as long as it is plugged in to the charger but goes dead soon after it is unplugged.

The info on this phone is:

Version 3.1.3 (7E18)
Model MB704LL
Firmware 05.12.01

Can this older iphone that has not been use or updated in a very long time be unlocked so that I can use a SIM from a mobile provider in Panama?

All I want is to be able to use the iphone with a different providers SIM.

Even though I have read a lot on this site, all the unfamiliar acronyms and software names are confusing and I really would not know where to start and what to do. If so, please help me understand what to do in basic terms.

Jailbreak iPhone 3.1.3 with Sn0wbreeze | Redmond Pie then once jailbroken use ultrasn0w on cydia. restart the phone. should be able to put the SIM in and work. make sure the SIM is GSM
