this is probably a way for the teams to kill some time whilst they make final preparations.
if it was true, that lawyers etc. blah blah, would be contacting them, the lawyers would actually of contacted geohot first for the unlock that he did ~ why did he.

Goddamn asshats.
If someone else manages to make an unlock, don't announce the day and time you are releaseing it, thus give anyone the time to issue cease and desist orders, just release the goddamn thing immediatly and make whatever goddamn money you can on it.

Is it an excuse again?
I am pretty sad to see this happening.
I thought that unlocking is legal in US and should not get this kind of trouble

I think unlocking the iphone is legal but the act of making money off it isn't.

anyone can issue a cease and desist without there neccasserily being anything illegal going on.

Smells and looks like smoke and mirrors from Uniquephones/iphoneunlocking. I still think they do not have an unlock at the moment. They are waiting to get their hands on iphonesimfree solution. They have not shown the unlocking process to anyone (ie press); they have made false promises before; and until Apple/AT&T confirm legal action I'd be skeptical as to who this "Silicon Valley" law firm are representing, if they exist at all.
Note that iphonesimfree have not announced a battle with Apple/AT&T lawyers.
Time will tell but UniquePhones have done themselves a lot of damage with their false statements. This could be yet another one. Frankly I was expecting them to come up with some excuse for not releasing the software at their deadline. What a surprise!
