UNCONFIRMED: New iPhone in November
I just got off the phone with AT&T because I was cancelling my iPhone account. I'm going to use it on my existing T-Mobile account, but that's another story. Anyway, the representative told me that in November a new iPhone is coming out. I told her that I heard it was going to be a smaller version and she stated that the only difference is that she is aware of, is the new phone will be a 3G phone. She told me this after we talked about the price of the iPhone and she was surprised that I knew that AT&T employees get a 10% discount. Maybe that let her guard down and she slipped.

Was a ploy to keep you on the AT&T network? Sweeten the deal not to leave?
Can I sync my iPhone to my Newton?

I don't thinks so, she already knew there was no way to change my mind. My iPhone was aready sent back to Apple. She thought I was returning it, but in reality I was swapping it out because my WiFi did not work. But you never know.

I'm pretty sure a low level AT&T rep would know about a new iphone release. The employees in Apple stores didn't know the new iMacs where being released.

I just found this
http://www.iphoneatlas.com/2007/08/2...y-app-support/
"AT&T has sent a new survey to some iPhone customers that asks some interesting questions about functionality and usage.
One query asks what currently non-existent iPhone features users would most desire. It then proceeds to list some of the most discussed missing features on the iPhone, including corporate email support, 3G (network support), GPS, Picture Messaging (MMS), the ability to use the iPhone with other service providers (not just AT&T), downloadable Ringtones, a user-Replaceable battery, more storage, a “search function” and more. The survey goes on to ask if the user would buy an updated “version 2.0″ iPhone if it included some subset of these features. "

Number 1: I have nothing to gain by lying.
Number 2: I am just repeating what she told me.
I personally do not need a 3G phone because I have T-Mobile.

I thought that the infineon ship is supposed to support both 3G and MMS. If that's right, Apple would be able to add this feature by upgrading drivers or firmware, I don't know. Not a specialist. Am I wrong? But I don't understand how an operator in Europe, that paid billion for the UMTS licence, could launch and pay exclusivity for a phone that do not support that feature. So I think 3G will be available on european iPhone. Only question is new model or upgrade?

I don't remember exactly, but from what I read in S-Gold's page, the chip needs to be aided by an extra chip in order to provide 3G. I doesn't do it by itself.
Sorry, no candy.
