Unable to connect through USB (new problem)
Hello!
I've searched, and searched and searched but haven't been able to find anything that has been able to help me out. Perhaps this problem can't be solved, or noone else has this problem.
So, I've got this first gen iPhone with fw 2.2 unlocked and activated with PwnageTool. About a month ago, it stopped being recognized by any of my computers (Macbook 'late 2007', Macbook 'Late 2008' and several Windows PC's). Everything else works fine (WiFi, BT, Installer, Cydia, installing new programs through App Store via WiFi etc. etc.).
The phone doesn't charge through USB, but it works great through the AC-adapter that came with the phone.
This is the strange thing:
When connecting the phone to one any of my Mac's, nothing happens. No application is able to find the phone. I've tried both iTunes, iPhoto, PwnageTool, QuickPwn, Ziphone but none of them recognizes the phone in either it's "normal state" or in DFU-mode.
However, if I reboot the phone while connected to the computer through USB, the phone SOMETIMES gives me a message about "this thing is not made for iPhone, would you like to enable Flight-Mode" (well, something like that). However, that doesn't happen all the time.
That must mean that the phone recognize that it's been connected through USB with "something", right?
Here's what I've tried:
- Connected the phone to several Mac's and Windows PC's through USB
- Tried another iPhone with the same USB-cable (works fine)
- Tried the phone on every other USB-port
- Tried another iPhone with the same USB-cable on the same USB-port (works fine)
- Tried another iPhone with the same USB-cable on all other USB-ports (works fine)
- Tried the phone with another USB-cable
- Tried other products with all USB-ports (works fine)
- Tried resetting the phone
- Tried going into DFU-mode (can go into DFU-mode, but the phone still isn't being recognized by ANY of the above applications)
I might have forgotten something, but belive me when I say that I have tried everything that's been discussed (hopefully not, though).
I've searched and read more than 10 ACTIVE hours, so this is basically my last hope.
Is there any application available through Installer or Cydia that can either reset the phone, or maybe even search for errors or something like that?
One last thing - the phone was bought in the US, but since I live in Sweden I have no warranty for it (Sweden only has iPhone 3G and the 2G iPhone only have World Wide Warranty for the countries it's been sold).
If you can come up with anything, please write all you can come up with, so we can cover pretty much everything with just a couple of posts. This will also let me try several things at once, instead of just one at a time.
In pretty much all other threads about problems with the iPhone, someone always says that "you probably doesn't get into DFU-mode correctly". This is not the case. The phone can get into DFU-mode just fine, but still isn't being recognized.
Thank you in advance!
Regards, Erik

This sounds like a real problem phone
I can't think off anything apart from it being some kinda hardware issue

One thing you could maybe try is flashing/renewing your baseband version by downgrading to 1.1.4 firmware & using the kiphone.

Thanks you for your reply, but how would I be able to downgrade to 1.1.4 if Itunes, PwnageTool, Quickpwn, Ziphone and other applications are unable to recognize the phone (not in DFU-mode either)?
Thanks
