    Default Un-jailbreaking iPhone

I know this is kind of a lame question, but I have searched a bit and couldn't find an answer.

My iPhone currently has firmware 1.02 and is NOT unlocked, but is jailbroken - in other words, I still have my ATT plan and haven't screwed with that at all. I've just used iBrickr to jailbreak and put Installer.app on my phone.

If I want to update to the latest firmware, how do I reset my phone without losing my contacts etc? I know I'll lose third party apps, you don't need to try and convince me to keep 1.02; I haven't decided whether to upgrade or not but I want to know what I'd have to do.

    Thanks.

if you sync your iPhone with your iTunes before, you should have a backup in your computer for all your contacts etc. check the "Perferences" in your iTunes

Yes, that backup is there. So if I just wipe my phone I can restore from that? If so...how do I wipe my phone?

You can return to jail with a tool like iNdependence, although I don't know if that will work since the jailbreak methods used in iBrickr and iNdependence might differ.

If you have 3rd party apps, the phone will be wiped clean and then reinstalled. I've had haphazard success in retaining my previous backup. Sometimes, it keeps my contacts and email settings...sometimes not.

Okay, and there's no way to just do a clean reinstall of 1.0.2 without a specific un-jailbreak program?
