Why would it? If you're paying $20/month, you don't need to try these alternatives!

Default PdaNet with proxy gsm provider...possible?

I have my provider's APN requiring a proxy...just like tzones..
i used to tether through tinyproxy which by editing its config file you can have it connect to the proxied EDGE and tunnel to the pc...
but now i'm on 2.1 and tinyproxy not available anymore so i need a tethering solution that can do that
i emailed PDAnet but didn't receive a reply...

For what original purpose was epc.tmobile.com created, anyway?

I did a search and found someone who claimed that data roaming had to be ON. I turned it on, and everything worked. Mere coincidence? How could the data roaming setting affect anything if we're already on the T-Mobile network?

it's sort of a bug in the sim unlocks...

When you sign up for Tmobile you are logged as a customer for a certain address/city/location/zip code

when you travel out of that zip code, you are roaming (even though free roaming is now part of most plans, so we dont think about it)

when I am in my home zip code, I can get edge data even with data roaming off

when I travel outside my home zip code, if I do not enable data roaming, I dont get edge data while traveling (I go to a different State, 1000 miles away.. its definitely roaming, but free)

so, I enable Data Roaming, and all is good, both in my home zip code, and when travelling

Im on iPhone 2G on FW 1.1.4 with 5.99 Tzones plan using the updated Port 25 instead of 10, and using epc.tmobile.com, not wap.voicestream.com... because on speed tests, epc is faster than wap

I am interested in the epc.tmobile.com because it seems somewhat faster, but the glitch I asked about is unacceptable. And I know someone on the $6 plan that is having the issue as well. When using epc.tmobile.com, I find that I frequently but intermittantly am unable to load news stories whose links appear on this page:

    http://tmobile.cnnmoney.mlogic.mobi/

If I switch back to internet2.voicestream.com, that site works consistently.

Do others find this glitch with epc.tmobile.com (regardless of whether you are on the $6 plan or the $20 plan)

Nobody knows why there is an epc.tmobile.com, it could be just experimental and stop working at any time.
So don't put too much hope and expectation that it will be here for much longer.
