iphone has hardware scaling
maybe its ok...
and movies etc arent all compressed to 480x320
so maybe the scaling scales the actual movie resolution rather than iphone resolution

iPhone-iTouch support 480p (NTSC) or 576i (PAL) resolution only.
Because this feature is exactly the same as the iPod Video (5th Gen), you will only see your videos and youtube videos on TV.
Don't expect to see the Springboard and the apps.

Yes this is true. The option is available in the 1.1.1 update in Settings. Even though the dock that comes with the iPhone has a line out connector on the back, from what I gather - connecting say a 3.5mm jack (like the headphone one) and having a composite line out on the other end aka phono plugs (white/red/yellow) doesn't work.
For some reason, you have to buy the Apple cable which is the dock connector (30 pin) - with composite plugs on the end with also a USB plug and USB power adapter. This is the only cable that will work.
1st Gen. 8GB 2.0.2 Working on Vodafone (UK), Orange (UK), LUXGSM (Luxembourg) and Dialog GSM (Sri Lanka).
No. of iPhones unlocked on 1.1.3 FW: Nobody cares!
