Are Turbo Sim Users Getting Away Lucky ???
Afternoon all,
I have just been reading the various news posts regarding Apple's "Unlocking your phone will damage it etc..." (it's also good to hear that the Dev Team are working on the lock program !)
As most iPhones are more than likely unlocked via the software method now as apposed to the Turbo Sim method my question is :
With future software updates will the Turbo Sim users (myself included) be able to happily install the updates as this method is essentially 'fooling' the iPhone into thinking a valid AT&T sim is inserted - my understanding is that if Apple are trying to re-lock phones via future firmware upgrades they will be attempting to break the new software unlock (anySim etc...) ? Therefore allowing the lucky Turbo Sim users peace of upgrading mind ?!?
Just my thoughts, apologies if I have rambled, hope it makes sense !
Thanks
Mark.
EDIT : I've just re-read my title and it sounds like I am taking a jab at Turbo Sim users ! I'm not - myself being one ! I just havnt switched unlock method mainly as it's all working fine for me, plus I paid good money for the TS !

Firstly, to enable us to use the iPhones for anything, we need to be able to activate them... so I'm sure apple will secure this process which in turn will stop ANY unlock process including the TurboSIM!
Secondly, if apple changes the way the iphone verifies the AT&T SIM, it could stop the TurboSIM from working...
So the advice given... hold fire, don't update... let the Dev Team do their work

Good point - my trail of thought seemed to skip past the jail break process etc...
I don't plan to run any updates before I read the all ok from here as well though !
I feel that the software unlock caused more of a stir if you like than the Turbo Sim method so it would be this that gets targeted / broken by FW updates first...

if you programmed the turbosim using a third party 1.0.2 phone.
Does the turbosim then work on a second 1.02 phone that has only been been activated (no jailbreak).
Ie Do you think a programmed 1.02 Turbosim would work on a 1.1.1 if activation had been hacked (but not jailbreak)?
Just some people sell the TS on eBay programmed and wondered after programming if any files are required on the iphone itself or all the files then required on the Turbosim.

They have the data of the used AT&T sim to the TurboSIM programmed. So if apple changes the way of simlock this can fail to. At the moment its a NetworkLock, locked to a specified network code. Don't hurt me if this is incorrect.
