    Question Touch screen problem

One of my iPhones is not responding to any 'touches' made on the horizontal row where the numbers 4 5 6 reside, making it impossible to dial these numbers. Do you think this is a hardware problem?

This doesn't sound good at all. Try rebooting the phone. If it is still there, then you have a h/w issue and need to have it replaced. I am quite confident that it is a h/w problem if it persists because I read somewhere on macrumors forums that people were having the same problem and took it back for an exchange.

I've got the exact same problem, it's very hard to type the 4 5 6 digits on the phone pad and I also have the same issue into some other app about mid screen.

I was thinking if this could be due to the original screen protection which I still have but wanted confirmation before I take it off...

Have you got your screen protection on?

Unfortunatly there's no way for me to return this as I dont live in the U.S. I can live with it but it's annoying.

Did you try to remove the screen protection? I'm willing to do this but only if it does help.

You MUST remove it because it blocks the ear speakers and significantly affects the volume of whomever you are talking with on call.

I dont think it does anything to the volume, there's a cut out where the speaker is and I dont see any holes in the bottom part apart from the "Home" button where there is a cut out too... I thought the mic was next to the bottom speakers anyway.

Maybe it's a deadzone, some iPhones has it.
Apple will replace your screen or give you another one.
If you google on it you'll find those people...but you'll also find crap of Richad Windsor.
He's talking about the chemicals in the screen will not react anymore, but it's an capacitive screen, not chemical!

Unfortunately there seems to be a two-three month threshold for some iPhone screens. If yours makes it past regular use past two months, then you'll be ok.

According to Apple, the phone can be exchanged for a new one. I'm in Toronto and will be sending my friend in Chicago my phone this week to be replaced. I'm going through withdrawals!

For those of you outside a country that does not sell iPhones, start making UK/American friends now.
Can I sync my iPhone to my Newton?
