Default Toolchain Helper v1.0 for Mac

Foreword: This tool is targetted at developers using the toolchain

    -----

Toolchain Helper is Cocoa-based Mac application to copy the filesystem from your iPhone onto your computer. This makes it so that you don't have to use the firmware restore DMG from Apple when working with the toolchain (which requires you to break the DMG encryption -- illegal in the US).

    [EDIT: Updated to version 1.0.2]

The current version is 1.0.2 (released July 30th, 2007). It's a universal binary, and has been tested on PPC and Intel.

It can be downloaded from here

The UI is pretty self-explanitory, but in case you need more explanation:

Copy Core Filesystem copies the main filesystem from the iPhone to your computer (without copying all the MP3s, pictures, and settings). This is much faster if you have a lot of media files on your phone.

Copy Full Filesystem copies everything from the phone to your computer.

Note that nothing works unless the phone is in jailbreak mode. Also note that if it fails, try quitting and restarting the app.

    Have fun...

Not at home, so this question may be self answering, but can it copy it back to the iphone too?

No, it's only used to read the filesystem.

As I said, it's mainly for developers who want to grab all of the frameworks and libraries from the phone so that they can start using them with with the toolchain. However, if you do a full dump, you'll see all of your media files, so it could be useful for backup purposes too. Use your imagination...

Yes, version 1.0 had some problems with a hardcoded dylib path (so it won't launch). Grab version 1.0.1.

    Default Version 1.0.2

Just updated Toolchain Helper to version 1.0.2 as the old version won't work with the new way that iActivator performs jailbreak. So if you're using iActivator 1.1.1 or higher for jailbreak, then you'll need to get this new version.
