So im gettin my iphone tomm, and was wondering should i get the 19.99 or the 5.99 tmobile zones? I dont plan on using internet much, just to check my mail, use google maps, what should i get?

any thoughts

I went with the 19.99, and it's working great. I think T-Zones is a very limited version of the internet. I'm not sure if it would even work with the iPhone, but if it does, it would not provide the experience of a real internet connection.

yea 5.99 didnt work for me so I went to the 19.95 and it worked right after i got off the phone with T-Mo

tzones is a package that tmobile sells for phones that don't have a browser, but still lets them connect to the internet. it is the same network, uses EDGE, but since your phone is crippled, they don't charge you as much.

the 19.99 package is meant for phones with real browsers and email, because they ASSUME you are going to use more bandwidth.

but the thing is that tzones WILL work with the iphone, and you get basically the same service, but it requires some very specific per phone hacking, and reports are that it does not work as well in some areas as others, like all tmobile it seems.

i'm in NYC and have tzones on my iphone and its great. plus its $14 less every month, thats the price of unlimited texts..

If you are knowledgeable in electronics, I would definitely go with Tzones! Im actually posting this from my iPhone. Look for a forum titled GPRS settings. If you need help, feel free to PM me. All of the features work with the Tzones package!

Tzones sounds really enticing... I'm currently on the $59.99/month BB Minutes & Mail plan (unlimited Internet & SMS w/1000 100 minutes), and I'm thinking about switching to a prepaid plan + the $5.99/mo. Tzones plan.

Does anybody know if I'd have any problems keeping my current phone number or any other problems with that sort of setup? Also, does anybody have any thoughts wrt unlimited SMSs with a prepaid plan?

tmobile prepaid includes FREE tzones, but same as above, you need to hack your config files and set up a proxy to make it work. it is NOT supported by tmobile in any way.

as far as prepaid SMS go, they cost you 10 cents each outgoing SMS. same as 1 min of talktime. there is no unlimited prepaid SMS. it makes no sense as a plan.

it sounds like you want data and sms but maybe have another phone you use for calls? maybe look at the sidekick plan, i think its $20 for unlimted sms and internet, but no calls at all, and i'm pretty sure you can not ad prepaid minutes to that.

prepaid numbers can be ported to contracts, I know, I did it a while back, but I think the rep said it doesn't go the other way, like you will need a new SIM for prepaid.

can you guys teach me how to do it? to set up use with t0mobile?
