Default Those using 1.1.2 any wanting to be helpful!

I have a few questions about 1.1.2 before doing it again!

    1) Do international caller id's work okay without patching appsupport?

    2) Can the icons for weather and maps still be easily updated?

    3) Can you still easily disable to call forwarding message? (via com.apple.carrier.plist or elsewhere)

    4) If you pop out your SIM and stick another in, say T-Mobile UK does the phone recognise the EDGE settings straight away or can you save them somehow?

Point 4 I ask because I use one carrier all the time cuz it's cheap, but their data rates are nasty as hell, so on the odd chance I need mobile data I use a T-Mobile SIM.

On 1.1.1 I simply have T-Mobile's settings saved in the phone permanently via the com.apple.carrier.plist file so when I slap in the Tmo card the phone is ready for EDGE at a cheap price straight away. Will this differ on 1.1.2, if so how so?

1- yeah, same way as 1.1.1
2- not sure what you mean...
3- yeah, same way as 1.1.1 too
4- dont know for sure, but 1.1.2 has some carrier files (just ''official carrier'' the ones of the countries where iPhone is sold) since you are in UK, you can probably edit the file of your carrier and put the EDGE setting, so everytime you put a sim of a ''known'' carrier,( a carrier that has a .plist in this directory) iPhone will detect which SIM you are using, and will automatically set the EDGE settings...
    Sorry if I was confusing...

PS: If you are not in a country where iPhone is sold, theres a way to do 4- its just a lil more complicated

Using unlocked 1.1.2 & 04.02.xx baseband USA iPhone with Vodafone Germany and everything works like always, especially the native apps. Customize is now out with V 1.17 and you can choose under a new setting called "Configure Customize" what FW you're using. The icon order bug has been fixed too, you still can't hide icons anymore but I think this is OK like that because in the past people used to accidentally move Customize into the hidden area and were trapped because they didn't have a clue of native apps like Mobile Finder for example which allows to start the hidden apps too without a problem.

Thanks guys for the info. So for Caller ID to work properly I need to patch AppSupport again? Is it okay to use the same AppSupport I used to patch 1.1.1? Also element mentioned there's a more complicated way to get EDGE settings to stick no matter what the carrier, can you elaborate or point me in the right direction. I searched and there was too much to sort through.

    Cheers guys.

I have no probs with caller ID working on 1.1.2 unpatched. My phonebook numbers vary between +44 xxx xxxxxx and xxxx xxxxxx etc, and it also matches calls coming from international callers. Seems like they've fixed this, at least for the UK

    hexedit AppSupport:

In case you are located in a country where the iPhone is not officially for sale. To "fix" this you need to hex-edit AppSupport and replace an official location with your location. For example if you are located in Belgium then replace "fr/33" (offset 0xA0AC) with "be/32". After this patch MobilePhone will no longer crash.
The two last values on that line are "ISO code" (2 chars) and "ITU phone code" (2 or 3 digits). Open AppSupport in a hex editor. Go to offset 0xA0AC. Overwrite the two chars "fr" with the two chars of your country's ISO code. Go to offset 0xA0B0. Overwrite the two chars "33" with the two (or three) chars of your country's ITU phone code.
copy patched AppSupport back to (overwrite !) : AppSupport is located in /System/Library/Frameworks/AppSupport.framework/
    3. make Proximus_Belgium.plist (I used the UnknownCarrier.plist with plist-editor to save this as Proximus_Belgium.plist after changing APN data in it )
    copy it to : /System/Library/Frameworks/CoreTelephony.framework/Support/
create the symlink for Proximus_Belgium.plist :
go into iPhone with SSH (have BSD subsystem on iPhone!) and issue following 2 lines:
    cd /System/Library/Frameworks/CoreTelephony.framework/Support/
    ln -s Proximus_Belgium.plist 20601
    done
    *5005*86*1234567890# CALL still works
    weather/cities + stocks/indexes : also fine
YouTube and iTunes : fine after first opening being hooked onto iTunes Mac/PC

So you have a US phone in the UK and the call formats and international caller ID all work okay without any tweaks in 1.1.2?

Sounds promising, I just would love more info on what will happen when I insert a new SIM in 1.1.2: i.e. will the phone auto-recognise T-Mobile UK settings? If someone can post a way to make the EDGE settings stick no matter what SIM is in on 1.1.2 that would be excellent. Or is it the same as in 1.1.1 (edit com.apple.carrier.plist)

I do have a US phone on voda in the UK. The phone will not recognise UK T-mob sim to auto configure settings, but it will if you write a .plist and associate it via a symlink. Not the same scheme as 1.1.1- see this post http://hackint0sh.org/forum/showpost...&postcount=112
