Third-party applications
Since third-party applications seem to be possible, what kinds of applications are under development? Flash support for Safari? I'm just curious. Thanks for any helpful comment.

flash support for safari likely needs to come from apple... it would be very difficlut if not impossible... (unless the builtin safari has some extension plugin functionality (not likely) AND adobe release a flash engine that runs on the iphone to the public/hackers)
anyways, at the moment, as I understand most apps developed are proof of concept or aid for the developers in adding more functionality to the toolchain... there is in some form or another: apache web server, ssh shell server, python interpreter, vi, and a host of other utilities in a package, and some more stuff...
afaik though, nothing yet uses the iphone's interface...
one question though: does the apache work with some form of CGI/ServerSide scripting? and I assume you can access the local apache server on the phone? (does anyone smell local safari apps?)

Third party apps are definately possible at this point, I think a simple Terminal-like shell app would be good to start with, so we can use a lot of the programs released with the binkit without having to ssh in. Flash player isn't really possible at this point, as it's not open-source. It would have to be in a Software Update from Apple...

pakkman,
Development for a Terminal gui app has begun at http://code.google.com/p/mobileterminal/ and for general ui apps, #iphone-uikit. Shouldn't be long now, hopefully!
