Everything is in Apple updates. Just unzip the update. You then have to run this command to be able to mount it: "dd if=update.dmg of=ramdisk.dmg bs=512 skip=4 conv=sync". Replace update.dmg by the name of the source dmg (the big one). You then have a ramdisk.dmg image that you can mount. bbupdater is in, as well as fls firmware files. You can then upload both files to the iPhone. And run bbupdater -f file.fls on the iPhone to restore the baseband. But maybe next apple update will have a new firmware and overwrite it without doing all these steps.

I have different experience.
Starting with 1.0 firmware
GeoHot Unlock
Upgrade to 1.02 via complete upgrade (Power+Home)
Iphone Re-Locked ! IMEI Changed ! SIM AT&T NOT VALID !!!
Totally locked ! Only IPOD.
Now i have re- unlocked and work fine.
The question is .....If i lock the phone i can use my old Super Sim Card ? I not mind.

Thank you for this stuff. Very interesting.
In the Apple update, after unzipping I have those files:
-rw-r--r-- 1 avenardj admin 15254666 Aug 16 14:43 009-7698-4.dmg
-rw-r--r-- 1 avenardj admin 86278144 Aug 16 14:42 694-5298-5.dmg
drwxr-xr-x 4 avenardj admin 136 Aug 16 14:33 Firmware
-rw-r--r-- 1 avenardj admin 1584 Aug 16 14:43 Restore.plist
-rw-r--r-- 1 avenardj admin 3261992 Aug 16 04:34 kernelcache.release.s5l8900xrb
Which one would be "update.dmg" ?

If you follow geohot method it will tell you or include the bbupdater and
ICE03.14.08_G.fls
after you copy bbupdater to /usr/bin in iphone and ICE03.14.08_G.fls to your home dir in iphone /var/root
just type bbupdater -f ICE03.14.08_G.fls this will restore the baseband to the original.

Do you need to perform the hardware hack to reflash the original?
If not, isn't there a way to modify the ICE03.14.08_G.fls file so it includes the patch not to check the ICCD ?
Unless this file is signed, is the baseband chipset doing the signature verification in hardware ?

If you have a successfully HW unlocked iphone and for some reason want to "re-lock", I'm sure you would have no difficulty finding someone here or elsewhere who would trade you an brand new locked iphone for it!

It's more to do with warranty... Well opened and done, you can't tell. If you ever need to service your iphone, better remove the hack
