Is there a way to restore an iPhone backup using Time Machine?
Is there any way to restore an old iphone backup via Time Machine? i had to restore my iphone to new (in order to bring it to the Apple store...which is a whole other thread and now it seems that my most recent backup didn't take and i just have an old one. I had some important SMS messages that I wanted to get back on my phone. Is there any way to restore one of those backups from Time Machine?
or does anyone know where the backup files are stored (in Leopard)?

There are two cool and free tools. They not only show the Name of the iPhone but extract the files aswell.
For Mac download
iPhone / iPod Touch Backup Extractor
for Windows
Reincubate: Labs: Backup Extractor for iPhone: extract and restore files from an iPhone backup on Windows or Linux
have fun,

If you included that whole folder into your PC backup routine, restore that whole folder with all the content inside.
This will bring back the backup from that point in time again, and you will be seeing it in the list in iTunes/Edit/Preferences/Devices.
Only if you can choose the backup from that list, you'll be able to restore your data.
If it still can't work, you can try this method to restore iPhone from older backup.
Hopefully this works for all of you like it just worked for me!
