Text input trick: create bullets for lists.
Hey all, I'm new here and I just wanted to let people know about something I discovered the other day on my iPhone. I searched around a bit and didn't find any info anywhere else, so I decided to post it here.
I found a neat little trick that lets you add bullets into any text you type. You can use this in emails, but I mainly use it in notes to arrainge my thoughts better.
First, you have to have the Japanese keyboard enabled. Don't worry if you don't know any Japanese, this trick doesn't require any actual language knowledge.
When typing, switch your input method to Japanese, then type in 'maru' (the Japanese word for circle). Just type the letters m a r u like you would in English. Below the text you are typing on screen a selector bar will appear to let you choose which version of maru you want to input. Tap the right arrow and the list will expand to give you a ton of different choices. If you scroll down just a little you should see several bullets you can choose from. I usually go for the solid black bullet, but that's just my personal choice.
When you tap the bullet you wanted, it'll appear in the text where you were just typing. Switch your input method back to English and you're good to go.
Also, the next time you need to add a bullet the one you chose before will appear directly in the first selection box, so you won't even have to expand the list at all.
BTW, I'm using a Japanese iPhone, but I'm pretty sure as long as you enable the Japanese keyboard in the general settings menu first this should work on any iPhone.

Thanks. That would be awesome if it wasn't so tedious to do lol

To get the regular solid bullet just switch to numbers and symbols on the keyboard (.?123) and once there press what was the shift key which is now #+= and the bullet is right above the backspace button. • That bullet was from my iPhone. But if there's some trick like that for the Japanese keyboard can't we have something similar.

You get 4 or 5 different bullets with the Japanese trick.
It's fun to play with the Japanese keyboard anyway, there's a ridiculous amount of other symbols that I personally never knew existed.

Yeah, the Japanese keyboard gets you a bunch of other bullets.
Also, if you know a little Japanese you can squeeze out a bunch of symbols. Try typing "ha-to" (gives you a heart mark), "batsu" (gives you a different looking x), "hoshi" (star), "daiya" (diamonds) or "kurabu" (a clubs from poker).
I've seen someone use the apple symbol, but I'm not sure how to get that.
