Discuss taking apart the iphone at the General - Hackint0sh.org; has anyone taken apart their iphone? i mean just removing the back for battery replacement ...

    Default taking apart the iphone

    has anyone taken apart their iphone? i mean just removing the back for battery replacement or just to have a look around, ive seen some tutorials, it looks fairly easy if you have the right tools...
    if i have seen a little farther, it is because i've been standing on the shoulders of giants

    Yes, i have taken mine apart. The hardest part is getting the back off without damaging it. I didn't really have the rite tools though, all i had were some scrap pieces of plastic and a credit card. All i can really say is just take your time when your doing it. To be specific, i had problems getting something between the seam of the back case and the side of the iPhone to release the latches. Just don't pry the side outwards (like i did ) and you should be fine. Good luck!!

    thanks again jasper, this has to do with my ringer silence switch, i figure if i can just pop the back off i can slightly manipulate the metal backing where i can regain the full range of the switch!!! we will see what happens :S
