    Default T9 / Auto Correct

Is there any way to turn off the auto correction function (T9) when writing emails? If you want to write a message in another language than English, it's really verry annoying.

I forget if you choose a language when you set up the phone. Perhaps if you can or if Apple makes other languages available via a software update, you could have keyboard layouts/dictionaries for your language...tis a possible beauty of the virtual keyboard.

EDIT: Using or not using completion might be a setting in some plist file on the phone. If you hack your phone and "break jail", you might be able to find a setting like that somewhere...

Wait, what language are you looking for, cause are you suggesting that apple screwed up because they didn't add multi-language to their iPhone, even though they targeted the iPhone completely to America? Why would Steve Jobs what to add multi-national language support, when he plans on releasing the iPhone to other countries in 4 months (like Germany)?

Thats like me getting pissed off that those cool Japanese cell phones don't come in English, even though they're only made to work with the Japanese cellular network.

I think his point is, that when you are writing in a different language, the auto-correction is constantly changing words well written in whatever foreign language by english words.... and you have to constantly press the X on the suggestion in order to keep the text you want, so if the dictionary could be turned off, it would be of great help.

Don't know if you saw, but there is a way to turn off autocorrect according to zhivago's find on this topic: http://hackint0sh.org/forum/showthread.php?t=1801 There's a plist file in the Preferences app and you can enable the currently invisible option.

EDIT: More findings by glen.tw! http://hackint0sh.org/forum/showthread.php?t=1799
