    Default SummerBoard help

    i installed summerboard 3.0 on my uk unlocked phone 1.1.2.

    Then i uninstalled it this is when all sorts of crap happened my phone is now stuck on apple screen no matter what i do.

    The only way i can get my phone back on is if i use ibrickr to install older version summerboard 2.1 as for some stupid reason i cant get my hands on latest version this resulted in my phone back up and running but dock icon are on top of screen and i cannot use them. This stops me getting into installer on iphone and phone dialer ect.

    I need to try and install version 3 of summerboard to correct my problem but am unable to find it anywhere i was going to use ibrickr to re install as i cannot access installer on phone and it wont be there as ive already installed it previously. and the unistall gets a script error so im stuck can any of you guys help me get the latest version or the creator to fix this problem i do not want to get phone unlocked again unless i have too (i cannont unlock ) WARNING BE CAREFULL IF UNISTALLING SUMMERBOARD i know at least one other person having simular problem PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!! thanks

    I'm stuck in the same place. I just posted a thread before seeing this one.

    If you want use Springboard without Summerboard, just edit

    System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.SpringBoard.plist

    and remove this string

    Code:
    /Library/Frameworks/SummerBoard.framework/SummerBoard.dylib
    in Root > EnvironmentVariables > DYLD_INSERT_LIBRARIES

    Because Springboard gets stuck as it can't find the dylib.

    (the direct link for the latest Summerboard is here http://home.cogeco.ca/~nullriver/SummerBoard.zip)

    thanks man your a life saver.

    THIS IS HOW I FIXED IT :-

    1. install summerboard 2.1 with ibrickr.

    2. use IPHONE LIST to navigate you way to the frameworks folder.

    3. replace all the file in this directory with the version 3 of summerboard.

    4. next goto the Launch Deamon folder and add COM.APPLE.SPRINGBOARD.PLIST

    5 REBOOT IPHONE if this dosnt work goto summerboard app and restart and hey presto iphone back to normal

    Remove these 3.

    /Library/Frameworks/SummerBoard.framework
    /Applications/SMBPrefs.app
    /var/root/Library/SummerBoard/Themes

    I was in the same boat with Summerboard being semi-uninstalled (don't know how), showing in the phone but not working when I clicked on the icon. Plus it was showing that it was installed in installer, but wouldn't "uninstall".

    Anyways, I was able to delete the 3 files that XianLi named above. BUT I also had to uninstall COM.APPLE.SPRINGBOARD.PLIST and reboot....
    Of course when I rebooted I had no springboard, only an apple boot screen. I didn't panic......I had to use iBrickr (as per deathhobbit) to install the replacement Summerboard files to the phone in this order:

    SummerBoard.framework -> /Library/Frameworks/SummerBoard.framework
    SMBPrefs.app -> /Applications/SMBPrefs.app
    Themes -> /var/root/Library/SummerBoard/Themes
    com.apple.SpringBoard.plist -> /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.SpringBoard.plist

    .........as soon as I installed the 1st file (SummerBoard.framework) the springboard came back on screen with a vibration ....hehehe... then the rest of the files (in the same order)and then rebooted.

    I'm back to a working Summerboard app fully working.

    Thanks XianLi and deathhobbit.

    This happened to me too. I ended up doing a massive restore the first time. After the third time - I thought it must be something I've installed via Installer.app, so I tentatively installed each app I commonly use, until it caused the hang at boot.

    And found that Summerboard 3.0 was causing it.

    Downloading the ZIP linked here and replacing the appropriate files on my device didn't work. The only way I could get my device to boot was to change the setting in the 'com.apple.SpringBoard.plist' .plist file, as noted by XianLi.

    This is a big step forward for me, as I had really lost faith in the whole third-party apps experience. Having a phone that doesn't boot, and not knowing why, was a serious issue for me. Especially when I thought the only remedial action was a complete restore (which means I would have to go back down to 1.1.1 to get up to 1.1.2 I want to use). Now I know what was going wrong, I don't feel quite so worried that my phone may spontaneously not reboot at any time.

    Of note: luckily, I had installed AFPd and had connected to my wireless, so I could browse the phone's filesystem from the Finder on my Mac. This allowed me to try copying the files (which, as I've said, didn't work), and to change the .plist. I also then ssh'ed into the iPhone too (lucky I had that installed) and issued a reboot command.

    So, now I'm out of sh*t creek, can anyone offer a suggestion as to how I might get Summerboard working on 1.1.2? I'm pretty sure I've had this working without any of these problems before...

    Thanks!
