This has happened a few times now, not only to my iPhone, but also to my brothers. When we hit the home button or the power button to bring the iPhone out of sleep and then slide to unlock, we are presented with a black background and nothing showing except the service bars up top. Is the Summerboard crashing or is it another app causing this problem? Could it be a summerboard theme? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!!

Would be nice if it could be tracked down and corrected. hell, id be willing to send someone debug output if i knew how to turn it on and who to send it to.

So how do you get it back? I have to turn the phone off and then back on agian....

Mine also have the same problem.
I installed Dock 2.06 (sunburst), so when my iphone goes black, i just use sunburst and go to summerboard. from summerboard, just click 'restart springboard' and it back to normal again.
It is must more faster than restarting the iphone.

btw: in my case, i have 2 SIMs with an adapter and everytime i change from SIM1 to SIM2, the phone shows the black screen. i think this problem is related to summerboard or rSBT. i use both and setting to skip 4th row and 5 icons in dock.

Update: let me clear some things, Dock will NOT Exactly Fix the problem. its a temporary solution to give you the way to launch summerboard and reset it without rebooting your phone.
