I have 2 iphones, a 8 gb virgin 1.0.2 ATT activated and never hacked. Also I have 4gb jailbreaked and modded with no sim card in it, just to do dangerous things to.
I have put the 4gb thru the ringer and tried many things and frankly have been quite aweful to it in respect to running every hack on it I could find.
Both boot and sync music and stuff just fine with iTunes.

Heres my problem. I cannot get iTunes to upgrade either one to 1.1.1
I am using winxp.
I get an error 1602 every single time from iTunes.
iTunes has been de-installed and reinstalled. I have created a different user in windows. I have tried many things.
I could understand if my 4gb would not upgrade due something I mixed up in its operating system, but my vigin 1.0.2 will not upgrade either.
The only thing that does work if I put my phone into a restore mode first and run iTunes, it will tell me that my phone needs to be restored and at that point I can restore a image of backup of the same version...(a backup not an update)

I have read a lot of posts, but nothing that works for me so far.

Any ideas?

what version of itunes... try using the latest one...i see u r on windows...

Have the exact same problem with my 8gb iPhone. Won't update to 1.1.1 and get error 6 everytime. So far I can't figure it out and I've tried everything.
