Default Stock AT&T sim is invalid

So, after doing anySim numerous times with no luck, I eventually reverted to a virgin state/restored to find that the phone did not recognize the stock AT&T sim and although it can get the information off it, it still deems it invalid.

This morning, I went to my local AT&T store and got a new sim and the same problem persists.

    Any ideas?

If it matters, I did have an error for awhile saying that I needed to contact Apple service and no calls could be made...

that is suppose to happen. when i went back to the virgin state it gave me that error also. I believe the factory sim that came w/ you phone is hardcoded to the IEMI number of the phone it came with or something like that. When you did a restore you did w/ some someone's esle baseband flash so it's using a differen't IEMI number. Just jailbreak and use the anysim app to unlock and everything will be fine. Your IEMI number will be restored, you should confirm that it did by checking it w/ the back of your phone. I tested this my self and so have many others.

    Hm...

First of all, does Wifi work? If it does, good news, your baseband is still in working order.

Second, try to "activate" (NOT unlock, but curvimvent activation) the phone. Restoring un-does the activation override.

Retry anySIM and then try it with another SIM card. If it still does not work, you might have a busted SIM socket.

Im sure people who actually OWN iphones will be able to provide more of an insight though

one question. how did you go back to "virginstate" itune or did you reflash the baseband using the bbupdate -f command?

I had this whole same process happen, went to the ATT store and they gave me a new sim.. still says same thing... i checked the IEMI number and it doset match the one on the back... sooo i'm wondering if i can take the .fls and .eep files and open em in a hex editer and change the IEMI to match mine, then relock the radio, then restore in itunes and then reactivate?

reason being, when i did the iNdependence activate, then anySIM unlock, my phone works, but the voicemail button directly dials instead of going to visual voice mail...

k from the sound of it, its neither legal or possible to change the IMEI... so... guess i'm stuck with doing the unlock to use my ATT sim... is it posible to change the voicemail button to do visual voicemail?

I did bbupdate as well as restored.

At this point, I think i'm going to take it back to an apple store and feign ingnorance. I think that flashing the firmware over and over with numerous different baseband flashes screwed with things enough to where I'd just like to start from scratch and let apple figure it out.

If not, I'll be back to try and figure things out...

I would be nice, though, to have a way to back up your .fls and .eep files incase something like this happens...

The same thing happened to me with the original GUI unlock (free one) and all I had to do was run the unlock again and it fixed the IMEI and all that jazz.

Interesting. I may try this before I go to the apple store. It would be embarrassing to have them call me out when the IEMI numbers are different....

    Good catch!

everything will be fine if you unlock it using any of the unlock methods. I used anysim the 2nd time around and it works just the same as using the iphone.unlock.no way. anysim is way easier tho, just jail break and then upload lockdown to free you phone. then use ibrikr if you're on win, indy if you're on osx and then install the anysim using the pxl that was posted on here for dl. couldn't be easier. I have to say apple did a good job, it's pretty hard to totally brick your iphone.
