Default To Steve Jobs: Brilliant ! But When Can I Use My Locked iPhone As I Want ?

    Mr Jobs

Congrats ! Your new line up is fantastic !

If you havent heard of us before, we are a bunch of people from all over the world that absolutely love your iPhone. We are not the average users - we are ENTHUSIASTS - thats right Steve, we LOVE YOUR iPHONE.

BUT Steve - guess what ! We cant use it HOW WE WANT TO USE IT !! We know AT&T have you over a barrel with the contract etc etc BUT SURELY you will allow us, your users, your fans at least some leeway here !

Why cant you just release a nice little downloadable-itunes-friendly-allinone utility that just SIMPLY removes the locking mechanism with that little piece of plastic and copper known as a Subscriber Identity Module (SIM) card so that we can use our own SIM cards with a network of our choice ! Isnt America all about freedom ? Your illustrious leader and Commander in Chief mentions it all the time.....

Steve - we dont want to have to open the iPhone, piss around with needles, put strange cut down weird Sim cards in there. really we dont !!

We just want to use the iPhone as it was intended - the best hand held device on the planet.

We are even prepared to sacrifice the Visual Voicemail also !! We can live without that !!

So, on behalf of thousands of owners of the iPhone. I call upon you to take a bold step against corporate America and say....Think Different !!

Come on Steve - you know you want to ! I dare you to reply ! Infact I double dare you !

How's about we early adopters who paid well over the odds (I paid the equivalent of $940) for our early iPhones outside the USA simply email teh Steve and ask for an unlock - now he's slashed the price of the unit...

Dream on, obviously, but it may be worth a drunk email

Someone needs to settle down a bit... lol

iPhone was the the start. Smartphones are getting better and better, and all manufacturers are starting to create WiFi+TouchScreen phones on all sorts of platforms. Granted the iPhone one seems to be the best right now, and I love my iPhone, but by this time next year... hell, by this time in 4-6 months there are gonna be phones just as good (or possibly better) than the iPhone and they'll be sold unlocked.

The only fun thing I see about having the iPhone is that it was the first (well not exactly, but the first that actually functions well). Or if you insist on the iPhone, someone in your area will eventually offer an unlock procedure, I did the HW unlock to mine, it wasnt really that hard at all, Apple won't unlock it for you as long as they are under contract with AT&T.
