    Is there any way to ssh the iphone without using wifi?

    I have tried searching the forum but the existing posts dont seem to be very helpful.

    No. You need wi-fi for SSH. However, there may be some alternatives. What version of iPhone firmware are you running?

    You could try to use your edge connection. But this will only work if your carrier doesn't block ports (especially the port 22). You will need to find out the edge IP (e.g. http://whatismyip.com/).... but even if this works it is going to be very slow.

    I'm on firmware 2.0, i thought there was a way to access the IPhone via USB?

    If you got a working WiFi card in your computer, and just misses a WLAN connection, you could just create an Ad Hoc network from your computer. But I guess you got some bigger problem, like no WiFi card.

    Well i have in built wifi on my Macbook, how do i set up a adhoc network on the Mac?

    Only issue is most places i'm at, i cant access wifi for free and its all locked down in some way.

    worked out how to setup a ad hoc network. Then just SSH'd to the default IP that the network generates. Worked perfectly.

    Thanks for the tip.
