    im not an expert or nothing, but i am pretty sure that you install SSH so that you can access your iphone's root directory and so that you can read and write files that are hidden normally on the iphone.

    i also think it means you can do this through your iphones ip address

    but dont take my word for it im not sure if im right or not

    Exclamation Stop !!!!

    Dude, seriously, if you have no idea what SSH is and what you are supposed to be doing with it, please stop hacking your phone: I guarantee with your current level of knowledge, you are going to screw up big time and be left with a $400 paperweight.

    Lurk around the forums a bit longer and read the posts - you will soon get the hang of it; it's not rocket science !

    Install Productivity/MobileFinder from installer.
    Navigate to the Application folder where you see all the applications listed.
    Click SSH and click file underneath. Click delete.
    Install System/BSD Subsystem from installer.
    Install System/OpenSSH from Installer.
    Uninstall OpenSSH and BSD Subsystem from Installer.

    Hey, Sorry HairBall....Didn't mean to patronise you; but reading my post again, I do come across as a total jerk

    I just wanted to stop someone from making the same mistakes so many others have made and ending up with a brick ( a very bad feeling: I know !). I assumed from your initial post ( jailbroken iPhone) that you were interested in installing various apps and exploring the possibilities offered by the iPhone OS. Now its clear to me that you just want a jailbroken device and a nice clean desktop. Cool.

    Notfound just posted what you need to do to achieve that.... Good luck with your phone, and apologies for my initial reply.

    @nassir
    bsd subsystem is there so you can install certain apps its not doing anything its just a file structure so i wouldnt worry about deleting/unistalling it,
    You might come across some apps that need it,

    @Notfound,
    why did you say to install bsd subsystem and ssh again??
    just to uninstall??
