Yesterday I was watching a movie without my earphones and after ap. 30min the speaker went silent. without doing anything, it just stopped playing sound. i tried to fix it by plug and unplugging but didn't get the speaker working again. so i decided to go to bed and try it this morning and voila, the phone repaired itself?!?! the speaker works again. it is the third time in 4 days after updating my unlocked 1.0.2 iphone to 1.1.1 (with virginize it first) and unlocking it. the whole month using it with 1.0.2 there was never this problem.

    and again...

now after the speaker getting silent again i cant fix it anymore. even if i plug and unplug it 100 times. it still stay silent. the phone recognizes the unplugging because it stops the music playback everytime. but why the sound isn't direct to the speaker. and why the speaker stops working during video playback?

is there really noone who can help, please?

i will try a restore, hopefully this will fix the problem. i cant believe i am the only one having this problem and dont getting it fixed.

dude, really, you obviously need to restore,

back up all your data via itunes

and do a restore (if you are unlocked via AnySim 1.1 you shouldn't have to unlock again, just jailbreak and activate) - or try replacing the sound control .plist files (i am NOT going to search and link all those files and threads for you, please search for them)

no one is answering cause there are allot of threads on this already, and searching will help you find allot, people are not going to spoon feed you this info, you got 16 posts, get some more by posting around and searching, you will find you will learn allot more and understand why and how of allot of problems, instead of being told do x-y-z and then you have no idea how to fix related or similar problems in the future..

its not like i never visited any forum and dont know to search before starting an own thread. but dont finding any answer to my problem made me open this thread. you tell me there are other threads about it? where?

    did a restore anyway...

now after the restore the phone still is silent, shouldn't it be making any sound (the clicking sound pressing the numbers?) without jailbreak? does that indicate, that there is something else wrong with my phone? anyway, thanks for your help

even after a few restores the speaker stays silent. i'm out of options and so i have to wait a couple of days until the phone will be available her in germany, buy me a new one and selling this on ebay. could kick myself for updating to 1.1.1. everything was fine before making this step. and i really dont know where to find any .plist file or something like that on the phone where i can reset the "earphone plugged"-status, if this is my problem at all. maybe my speaker is broken, who knows. damn it, i can hear my girlfriend saying, it's alsways the same with you and technology ;-)

yesterday i bought myself the apple bluetooth headset and discovered that it wont work eighter. the phone recognize the headset (i hear a calling sound if a call comes in) and by setting the volume the headset beeps reaching the maximum and minimum value. so the headset should be ok i think.

but i cant hear anything or speaking trough the headset. so until yesterday i thought it may be a hardware issue with my eyternal speaker but now i think its software driven because of i can only make calls with the phone or the earphones but not with setting the call to speaker or headset.

maybe a restore isn't working for me (tried it several times) because like i read on another thread the "normal" restore doesn't restore everything. does somebody know who to restore the iphone completely to its factoring settings?

    thanks anyway.

    Hmmm...

I also thought, that the restore would set the phone back to factory settings.

I am also facing exact the same problem: IT CAN'T BE A HARDWARE PROBLEM!

But none knows the solution for resetting the sound.

    I found the solution.

Just plug and unplug the earphones several times. That helped.

    Funny, but fact.

    Hi,

after updating to 1.1.2 (with the whole downgrading process to 1.0.2 and 1.1.1) the bluetooth headset is now working (could it be that i had to update because i bought the headset in germany and it wont work with a phone prior to 1.1.2?). But the speaker of my iphone is still dead making no sound at all.

i dont think the plug and unplugging of the earphones can solve this problem because my iphone recognize the unplugging (it stops music/video playback and change the volume too if i unplug it). and I tried it many many times too.
