Default [Solved] How can I set up T-Mobile EDGE?

Hey all, I'm very new to the iphone and all this so I apologize for my ignorance. I am hoping someone can give me a link to someplace that can help me or just tell me, but please help. It's my first day... quack quack quack... and I'm trying to help myself but it's difficult sometimes.

I would like to use my tmobile web with my Iphone but cannot seem to find out how to fix it up. I only seem to be able to connect to the web via wifi, which is great but where there is no wifi I am f**ked. (can I curse here?) and thats why I need my tmobile web to work... somehow. somehow?

    Please help.

You should just need to put in the apn of T-mobile. I don't use T-mobile so I am not sure of their settings but someone here or at a T-mobile store should be able to help you. You can find where to put this in under settings-general-edge.

hmm well that sounds very well. thanks.

I looked it up and i got it. I think I got it right. I feel like an idiot, what about the name and password the iphone asks me for where do I get these? If I call t-mobile and tell them what I'm doing I don't think they'll like me not using one of their phones.... what should I ask them?

    Please.

    Thanks.

Some dont require a username and password (like mine) but if you do, ya you should call and ask. They wont care if your not using one of "their" phones as long as you have a data packages already. Besides you probably dont even need to tell them what phone you have as most smartphones use the same apn settings.

thank you very much x98car. Everything's worked out perfectly fine. I played dumb and it seems they knew what phone I was using anyway so it looks like I wasn't playing, but they didn't care and helped me anyway. So it's very cool.

    Have a great one,

    Bud

Has anyone had a problem with iPhone forgetting the APN setting when you reboot it? I find i have to keep re-entering the APN everytime I restart the iPhone in the morning, or when it crashes.
Is it just me, or a common thing? IS there even a fix for it?? I'm on firmware 1.1.1.
    Thanks

on firmware 1.1.1 there actually is a fix!
but i guess updating to atleast 1.1.3 is your best option...
but the fix is called "EDGE settings fix" and you can get it from the source http://i.unlock.no and then it will be in the folder "unlocking tools" in installer.

    hope this helps!
    OTB 1.1.2 iPhone
    Firmware 1.1.4
    Activated/Jailbroken/Unlocked
    Calls In/Out: Yes/Yes
    SMS In/Out: Yes/Yes
    WiFi/Edge: Yes/No
    Carrier: T-mobile A

    Youtube working...everything working yay

So, in conclusion for anyone who may be as confused as I was.

    Tmobile edge.

    Settings --> General --> Network --> Edge -->

    APN: wap.voicestream.com
    Username: <blank>
    Password: <blank>

and of course you must have the total internet package, or at least that's all that works for me, though others have said differently. Check it out.

aww how cute a nub thread lol You are asking the same questions I asked about... idk november 2007 lolol....

call up t-mobile, and tell them you want the "t-zones 5.99 plan". After this, either use iliberty/winpwn/iplus to unlock your phone (you can find tutorials on iclarified).

go into installer.app (on your springboard), and add bigboss beta repository... then use the search function and type "t-m" and download the t-zones proxy hack. I recommend going to 1.1.4, but the choice is completely up to you. Whatever version you go to, there is an edge fix. Also, on 1.1.4, you won't have to patch the sticky apn, or worry about them dissapearing. This happened on 1.1.1. Hope this helps! Gimme thumbs up !
