    Like i said, you can try to edit the preferences.plist file and change the LocalHostName or HostName.

    These are simply the network name of your iPhone.

    I had the same problem here, on my router the DHCP would show a null for the name on the iPhone, however iTunes shows it named as iTunes. Tried the cliendID all that didnt work, even tried what XianLi said.

    In the end I remembered what fixed it one time, the default name to all iPhones are "iPhone" Therefore I dont think it has a hostname. So I just clicked on the name in iTunes, then renamed it to say "MyName-iPhone" and then did a Renew Lease on the iPhone and BAM the name now shows up on the router.

    I imagine it has something to do with the default name of iPhone.

    Did that, no luck, Did you put the - or just "YOURNAME iPhone"? without the -

    No I made it with the -, like BIGDOGJONX-iPhone and thats how it shows up on my router as the hostname, just as it is in iTunes.
