Hi all.
Read this thread and thought wow this must be the solution for my iPhone aswell.
The problem I experienced with my phone is that when I hold the phone at the antenna part (black plastic at bottom) the signal will decrease and soon "no service" will appear.
So today I opened it and found the burnt curcuit mark at back of the cover at apple logo. With antenna cover and back cover removed I inserted SIM card and got signal, but loses it as soon as my hand cover the antenna part of the phone.
Note, have not yet applied any isolation or anything else, just removed the back part of the phone and tried to use it. If some part of the back cover would have caused the problem I shouldŽnt lost the signal again? right?.
So do anyone else have this issue with signal when covering the black antenna part with your hand? And any suggestion now when I have my phone apart?
I can post pictures if it would help.
br
Christian.

I Think I have a similar problem, I sometimes get the no service message, but other times after getting that message it just tells me that I don't have a Sim Installed, or it just skips the no service and directly stops recognizing my sim...
Its an 1.1.2 OTB "unlocked" with a StealthSim, I worked perfectly for quite some time but in the past few day I've gotten this no sim error quite frequently and the only way to solve it is to turn it off/on or sometimes if im lucky going in and out of airplane mode also solves this...
Do you think this might be my solution? I don't really feel like opening my phone but if you guys think it might help I may gather some courage and try it....

since u opened the iphone go all the way and put insulation and try it..
@Junma
try to see if the stealthsim is misplaced before opening ur iphone.. if u r sure that it is positioned well then go ahead and open up the iphone

But if it was badly positioned would it fix itself just by turning the phone on and off? I'll check it anyway

I will give the isolation thing a try, will ask mr google couple of more times before I put all together again.
Have read about other who has this issue with losing signal when placing the hand at antenna cover, and the phone does have signal when laying on the table but not as strong as my ericsson k810 in a long way. So the iPhone is to me as a iTouch, becuase I can't trust the phone part.
Tried to tighten/ loosen all visable screws I saw when phone is disambled, no success.
Perhaps play a fool and try to return it to an apple store at next US visit?.
BTW thanks for all tips!, I will keep you updated and if you stumble upon any possible solution to my problem please let me know.

Thanks!!!
I think the burn stain at the side of the apple Logo its normal, I have seen that same stain in brand new Iphones, when we use to do the hardware method to unlock them
I didn't find the problem , I check my iphone pretty quick and decide just to try the solution, but it would be nice to find out exactly where is the failure, maybe the next time I open an Iphone again
Thks
glad i could help
another success story for the "no service" curse

I guess I rush a little bit, after 1 day NO SERVICE again, well at least work for 1 entire day, before that service never last more than a couple of minutes.
I have the phone completely open, and still no service, I will let it cool down a little bit and try again I hope I figure this out.
