[Solution] Fix Battery Drain after update from 1.1.2 to 1.1.4
Alright every1
Just a small recap of how this problem started
I have bought a 1.1.2 OTB iphone at the time when Ziphone didnt exist yet
I have bought a TurboSim and unlocked my iphone and used it for months without any problems on 1.1.2 and battery lasted for nearly 3 days without charge
Last month i have decided to update to 1.1.4 and i did a restore in Itunes and used ZiPhone to unlock and starting that day my battery didnt even last a day and half
I started to charge it everyday and didnt kow if it will last the day
First i thought it was a problem with the firmware and after several restores the battery problem stayed
(NOTE I DONT HAVE ANY EXTRA SOFTWARE OR 3RD PARTY APPLICATIONS ON MY IPHONE, SO THE PROBLEM OF THE BATTERY IS NOT THE RESULT OF ONE OF THEM)
So yesterday i was reading some info on ZiPhone and have noticed that while unlocking the Iphone , the Ziphone software downgrades the BL to 3.9 and leaves it like that and i remembered that when i got my 1.1.2 OTB it came with 4.6
So i searched on how to upgrade my BL to 4.6 and came across an application called BOOTNEUTER , (YOU HAVE TO ADD THIS SOURCE TO YOUR INSTALLER SCAPE-SERVER.ORG/IPHONE)
after i have installed BOOTBEUTER i have put my AUTOLOCK TO NEVER and run the BOOTNEUTER from the springboard, so the application started and it showed my that my BL version was 3.9

So then i have chosen the 4.6 BL and then put Neuter to ON / Fakeblank to OFF / Unlock to ON
and pressed FLASH
this process took a couple of minutes and then it gave me the succesfull msg
after that i quit the application and at this point i still didnt have signal from my GSM provider since BOOTNEUTER Unloads the Coomcenter, but after a couple of seconds, i got the GSM signal and its been 24 hours i have been using my phone and i have still 85% of the battery full
I think the problem was the 3.9 bootloader on a phone that came with the 4.6 from factory
I hope this will help alot of you guys out there

How could that be? The phones hardware are equal to one another, besides the BL version... No extra features were added, at least not that I know of.
Maybe flashing your baseband did the trick? Did you select "erase BL 3.9" when running Ziphone?? I just don't see how that's possible. I've unlocked my brothers phone, and I reflashed his BL 3.9 which originally came with 4.6, and he hasn't had a problem with the battery yet.
Why don't you try going back to 3.9, reflashing, and then observing how long the battery lasts. Also, don't install Navizon for the sake of the observation, since the new one is known to cause battery drain(simply select not to have that bar helper) A phone has hardware, and the only difference is the bootloader. This can be flashed and is programmable. It doesn't make sense saying "3.9 kills the battery on an original 4.6 phone", because after you downgrade to 3.9, there is no difference whatsoever in the result of the phones hardware. The outcome "appears" as a 3.9 original phone. Unless you have other facts or information which say 4.6 phones are different in hardware, then I will agree with you. I just think you needed to flash the 3.9 BL again, that's all.
I may be wrong, I don't know everything. But what you are saying is making little sense.
Phone=Hardware
BL=software
By flashing the software on the phone, it would make it original and fresh (clean flash). Your assumption is saying that all 3.9 phones have a battery drain, since the all the 8gb phones until now are all the same.
PS another thing that you need to keep in mind is openssh. It may be possible that when you used Ziphone, or after, you installed BSD and SSH. SSH, if on, will drain the battery. That is why on 1.1.4 it is good to use bossprefs to turn the app off. If it is not turned off, your battery will be drained within hours, tested by me!

If literally all you did was run BootNeuter, with no other changes via Installer or any other program, then it is a mystery why the bootloader is affecting your battery. The bootloader *is* used by the baseband but only during startup, or when sim card is re-inserted.
If you would consider using BootNeuter to go back down to 3.9 without changing anything else, and compare your battery life, that would be very useful info.

libertybenz2 believe me i know what a BL is and what a basebnd is and the difference of hardware and software, if you check the genius bar section of Hackint0sh you will see that i am probably one of the first people to have written a fully comprehensive tutorial for jailbreaking / activatin /unlocking the 1.1.2 OTB back when we used Turbosims.
Maybe flashing your baseband did the trick? Did you select "erase BL 3.9" when running Ziphone??
I have tried everything, flashed the baseband, restored, tried everything and the battery was lasting like 24 hours and thats with just using the phone, when i played games the battery drain was just incredible

If you read well what i said above, i wrote in capital letters

I didnt have OpenSSH installed on the phone
Second, on my 1.1.2 i always had OpenSSH installed and turned on all the time and enever had battery problems
Just check the forum to see how many poeple had the battery drain problem after upgrading to 1.1.4 and using Ziphone
MuscleNerd
Hi just for the sake of testing i have downgraded the BL to 3.9 using BootNeuter
and after only 9 hours in the test my battery is already half way down.
So now i can confirm that BL 3.9 on a 1.1.2OTB upgraded to 1.1.4 is draining battery.
I hope this will help others
I have tested the BootNeuter on 4 phones yesterday and all of them had battery problems and now suddenly the problem dissapeared

so, this means that if we upgrade the bootloader again to 4.6, itll improve the battery performance?
if yes, i have a question, i have a 1.1.4 8gb iphone, i unlocked, activated and jailbreaked it with ziphone, if i want to upgrade the bootloader to 4.6 using bootneuter, do i just install the app directly from installer?
thanks,

I have OTB 1.1.4 J/U/A with iLiberty + , downgraded do 3.9FB ........Does this mean thah this procedure of yours could prolong battery life in general? Or is this only for iPhones upgraded from earlyer firmware versions?

This is for people who after upgrading to 1.1.4 have noticed a battery drain and want to fix it
