okay mods im posting after a long time so excuse if any rules are not followed ... tell me and i shall fix ma errors

WHO DOES THIS APPLY TO : IPHONE v1 (2g) ..
SYMPTOMS OF THE PROBLEM :

1. iphone shows apple logo when connected to cable
2. Iphone shuts off immediately after cable is removed
3. Itunes shows error 1611 while in restore mode, trying to restore
4. itunes shows error 1604 while in Dfu mode, trying to restore.

dont worry phone is not bricked/ not all is lost

Also may not apply to all cases..

i had two iphones with the same problem as stated above .. searched everywhere including hackintosh ... got no real solution ... except some soldering of capacitors / or soldering battery wires with connectors... tried all but did not work

SOLUTION ... was very elementary ... head over to ifixit for a guide on how to open the iphone

next......... get hold of a spare oem battery ( i got mine for 11$ shipped)

simply replace the battery

while resoldering the terminals

be sure to go in the following order

black then white then red...

(also make sure you unplug the connector which connects to the switches on the back panel)

THE ABOVE FIXED BOTH IPHONES ..... I FOUND OUT FROM REPAIR techs... THEY WERE ASKING FOR 150$ I GOT MINE DONE FOR 11$

PLUS I HAD OTHER STUFF LYING AROUND soldering equip/ etc

i made this guide cuz i found no concrete solution and my phones were lying for a while just dead

So the problem is the baterry?
Mine shows all broken graphics.

freaked out and kept restoring of all firmware
every time i got an error of the 16XX series including 1611 many times....
here is what i did ..dont know if it helps u guys i think its worth a try...

uninstall itunes and quick time completely not just from the "Add and Remove"in Control panel.

And when i say completely ....it means go to "my music " folder in my documents and delete "itunes music" folder and delete it...
and also go to c:\documents and settings\ACCOUNT NAME\Applications data\"APPle ComputeR" and delete the apple computer folder

restart computer
reinstall itunes (latest)
restore to 1.1.4

Did u solve the problem guys ??? i`m still waiting to fix this 1611 error the iphone is doomed pls help

this is the problem from itune not with battery. there you need a two pc. one with 8.2 and onw with a latest which avail on apple site and then use both of if u have any problem

i installed itunes 8.2 and its the same error 1611... and i installed 8.0 and doesn`t recognize the iphone 3gs error 1619 what can i do i can`t make restore not eaven dfu mode help !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey guys, I live in New Zealand and I usually like to buy iPhones that are stuck in recovery mode in which iTunes gives you errors like 9, 20, 28, etc. So after days of searching the internet and doing countless tries of restoring in either recovery or DFU modes and trying different versions of iTunes as well as iPhone firmwares I figured out what the problem was, it is a HARDWARE issue that is easy to fix, this lies in the iPhone docking area in which there could be some dirt or a faulty connection, the solution entails cleaning the docking area of your phone, I used a small pin and cleaned every single small connector in the dock, make sure not to be so aggressive otherwise you can damage the connectors or even take them off, I had a 2G iPhone that iTunes was giving me error 9 and 20 when trying to restore it then I did what I just mentioned and it worked, I managed to restore it in itunes and unlocked/jailbroke it with redsnow. Good hardware suggestions, people often focus too much on the software side. My question is: you did not mention error 1611 as being related to this hardware cleaning/fix... Otherwise I would prefer that I move this post to it's own thread..

I haven't come across that error yet but I still believe that it could be a similar problem, you can move the thread to wherever you think is the best. Cheers

So I have been trying to sync my iPod touch 64g 3rd gen since Christmas! It wouldn't sync or even be seen by iTunes so the Apple geniuses had me put it in Restore mode. Well lost story short that was my first Touch and now I have a second just because I thought it was the unit. So now I have tried funwithamar's directions on uninstalling EVERYTHING from Apple and iTunes and it still stalls during Restore when the status bar comes up on the Touch screen and then goes black and then back to the ever hated Connect to iTunes screen. I don't know what else to do. I have even uninstalled my McAfee security stuff and no change. Please help!!! I have a pc too.
